A student of yoga for 18 years, Paul Denniston is a certified teacher in Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini Yoga, and Laughter Yoga. He teaches students as well as coaching other yoga teachers. Paul has volunteered at one of the largest hospices in Los Angeles, offering Heart Touch massage to the dying. He also has taught Movement at the Stella Adler Academy in Hollywood.
Paul dedicated himself to studying grief from some of the top leaders in loss, David Kessler, as well as William Worden, Elisabeth Kübler Ross, and Peter Levine. He also worked and studied with yoga masters Gurmukh and Seanne Corn. His intention was to combine many different forms of yoga in order to help heal grief. Paul understands how grief affects the mind and spirit and how the pain of loss gets stuck in the body. Through concentrated and gentle movement of yoga and connection to our breath of fire, we become present to our strength and openness to live a life of compassion and peace. His DVD, Grief Yoga, Moving into Empowerment, has quickly become a best seller, offering a concentrated, gentle opening and stretching of the body with a deep connection to breath.
He currently teaches Yoga at Core Power Yoga in Los Angeles and Grief Yoga to a bereavement group in one of the largest hospices in Los Angeles. He has taught several years at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts and done workshops at The Afterlife Conference and Esalen. He teaches Grief Yoga to Cancer Support Centers, Addiction Groups and healing after a break up, divorce and betrayal. Paul has taught the techniques and exercises of Grief Yoga to over 4000 therapists, counselors and health care professionals to use with their patients in The United States, England, and Australia.
